End your year with a SMASH! Join us for a round robin scramble recreational tournament. No partner is needed to register for this tournament. You will change partners after every game.

🕘 Time:

  • Mens 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. — check in @ 8:30 a.m.

  • Womens 3.0 & 3.5 1 - 4:30 p.m. — check in @ 12:30 p.m.

  • **NOTE** Womens 4.0 will play @ 9 a.m. — check in @ 8:30 a.m.

🔁 Format: Round robin scramble separated by skill levels and gender. Scramble format - partners switch after every game. Games are to 11 points, win by 1 point. One timeout per team, per game. You will play approximately 8 games. Medals will be awarded to the top three participants in each division.

🏀 Surface: Basketball hardwood flooring

👥 Players: Must be 13+ years of age

Rockford's premiere multi-use riverfront indoor sports venue opened on June 1, 2016. The facility is a renovated factory with a rich history that dates back to the W.F. & John Barnes Company in 1884. The modern facility contains 105,000 sq. ft. of space for a variety of indoor amateur sports. The facility has 12 hardwood pickleball courts.

FAQs

👕 Why aren't t-shirts being given away? I polled pickleball players in a forum as to what they would like to see as a giveaway and they said, "no more cheap t-shirts". Usually a tournament shirt gets relegated to sleepwear or chores like mowing the lawn. To give a high quality shirt, the tournament entry fee would need to be increased, and nobody wants that. Also, when dealing with t-shirts, the registration deadline has to be two weeks before the event to allow time for printing. So, I took into consideration the tournament player feedback and decided on alternate giveaways that are not size dependent.

🏓 How many games will I play? You will play approximately 8 games of pickleball in a round robin scramble format. Depending on how the brackets fill, some divisions may need to be combined to insure you have 8 games. You may be playing 8 back-to-back games with no bye rounds.

💲 What determines the entry fee? The entry fee is based on the expenses of the tournament. For instance:

  • Each basketball court (3 pickleball courts) are rented from UW Health Sports Factory for $60 an hour.

  • Event insurance is provided to the Rockford Park District for the tournament.

  • New balls are purchased for every tournament as this is the industry standard best practice.

  • Medals for the top three player in each division.

  • Swag bag with items for each player

  • Administrative costs like credit card fees and scheduling software.
